Training and Development are crucial components of an organization's human resource management strategy. These practices aim to equip employees with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to perform their job roles effectively and contribute to the organization's overall success.
According to Michael Armstrong, definition of Training and Development is as follows
"Training is the use of systematic and planned instruction activities to promote learning. The approach can be summarized in the phrase 'learner-based training'. It is one of the most important potential motivators which can survive a multiplicity of ills in a society, and can meaningfully enhance the quality of work." (Armstrong, 2006, p. 575)
"Development is an unfolding process that enables people to progress from a present state of understanding and capability to a future state in which higher-level skills, knowledge and competencies are required." (Armstrong, 2006, p. 503)
The reason why training is absolutely essential for any Organization
1. Enhancing Skills and Knowledge
2. Improving Performance
3. Addressing Skill Gaps
4. Adapting to Change
5. Employee Motivation and Retention
6. Succession Planning
7. Compliance and Safety
8. Competitive Advantage
By investing in training and development, organizations can improve their overall performance, adapt to changes, and maintain a skilled and motivated workforce, ultimately contributing to their long-term success and sustainability.
Developing a well-structured training and development plan aligned with organizational goals and future skill requirement
